ABOUT THE TEACHING ARTIST:

Peggy Roalf

BIO

My career has centered on helping artists to present themselves. As a curator, I work with artists in preparing their art for publication and exhibition. As a writer and editor, I seek to find to the words to convey the experience of looking at art—in the process developing a deep understanding of what it takes to create exceptional art.

Through this intense engagement with makers of works in various mediums, I have developed a one-on-one method of teaching the art of self-presentation. I have taught this workshop live at International Center of Photography and School of Visual Arts—and online for Sculptors Alliance.

I have written dozens of books and hundreds of articles on art and artists, and curated exhibitions that have traveled throughout North America and Asia. I also make art to offer what cannot be expressed in words.

TITLE OF THE COURSE

Present Yourself

You don’t have to be a sculptor to take the Sculptors Alliance online course: Present Yourself.
But you do need to identify as an emerging to mid-career artist hungry to advance your practice.

With more opportunities than ever in this Post-pandemic art-world, it has never been more important to write succinctly. And to direct your applications to the right targets for these increasingly pared-down submission forms. Artists are also encouraged to take the long view, continually developing their writing skills with future opportunities in mind.
